Streaktember Challenge – Day 3: The Longest Mile

Day 3 of streaktember is done, but wow… this was a tough one.

When I woke up this morning, my thighs and calves felt sore and heavy, like I had weights strapped to my legs. I’m used to long walks in my workouts, but running every day is new for me, and my body is definitely letting me know.

Still, I showed up for my mile. And honestly? It felt like the longest mile of my life.

Today’s Run

  • Distance: 1.05 miles
  • Calories burned: 148
  • How I fit it in: treadmill session while my oldest was getting ready for school and the baby was still asleep (this little window is becoming my streak-saver!)

It wasn’t easy, but I pushed through. Every step felt harder than yesterday, but I got it done.

Will It Get Better?

I’ll admit, today I questioned myself. I’m only on Day 3, and my body already feels like it’s “rioting” against me. But from everything I’ve read (and from past fitness experience), this soreness is part of the process.

My body isn’t used to running daily, but over time it will adapt. Right now it feels uncomfortable, but growth doesn’t come from comfort.

3 Things I’m Doing to Ease Soreness

If you’re trying something like this too, here are a few things helping me push through the stiffness:

  1. Stretching after runs – keeps my muscles from tightening up even more.
  2. Hydrating well – water makes a huge difference in recovery.
  3. Gentle movement on rest-of-the-day – light walks or playing with the kids helps keep blood flowing instead of sitting stiff all day.

Here’s my treadmill log for today, because part of this challenge is showing up and being accountable, even on the hard days.

Final Thoughts

Day 3 was a struggle, but I’m proud I didn’t quit. Not every mile will feel easy, but each one counts. I’m holding onto the hope that as I stay consistent, my body will get stronger and the runs will feel better.

One mile at a time, that’s the streak. 💪
