Today wasn’t about sore muscles. It was about my mind. I went to bed late last night and already knew I’d wake up tired. On top of that, my “mom radar” told me my baby might wake up earlier than usual, which meant I wouldn’t have that quiet window for streaktember while my oldest got ready for school.
So instead of waiting, I set my alarm and got up 30 minutes earlier than everyone else. The truth? I was not in the mood. I felt drained, sluggish, and mentally unmotivated. But my mama didn’t raise a quitter. I dragged myself onto that treadmill because I committed to this challenge.
And here’s the funny part, despite being exhausted, it ended up being my fastest pace so far!
My 1-Mile Run Times So Far:
- Day 1: 17:25
- Day 2: 14:00
- Day 3: 13:39
- Day 4: 12:42 🎉
As soon as I finished, real life came rushing in. My oldest needed to get dressed for school, and right on cue, the baby woke up while she was getting ready. My “mom radar” was spot on.
Overall, I’ve felt tired and draggy today, but looking at my progress chart, I’m proud. Some days are about pushing past sore legs, and others are about pushing past mental blocks. Today was the latter.
💡 Reflection & Tips
- Motivation won’t always show up first. Sometimes, you have to start before you feel like it.
- Sleep matters. Running on little rest makes things mentally tougher, so early nights are worth it.
- Progress isn’t always obvious. Even on “draggy” days, your body adapts; you might surprise yourself with speed or endurance.

Final Thoughts
Day 4 reminded me that this challenge isn’t just about running; it’s about consistency, even when it feels impossible. Mental battles are part of the journey, and today I won mine. Hoping tomorrow feels lighter, but even if it doesn’t, I’ll keep showing up.
