Today marks Day 13 of Streaktember, and I’m honestly amazed at how far this challenge has taken me already. My new name is “consistency” because it deserves its spotlight.
I slept late last night, but that was because I powered through my chores so I could sleep in this morning. When I finally got up around 8 am, I went downstairs, hopped on the treadmill, and started my run. No weirdness today (knock on wood 😅).
My New Running + Walking Routine
I tried something different today:
- I ran my 1 mile, then stopped both the treadmill and the run on my watch.
- After that, I started a new indoor walk session on my watch, put the treadmill speed at 3.5, and just walked for about 4 minutes.
That extra walking time wasn’t just about movement; it was my chance to relax, breathe, and meditate while still getting in activity. And guess what? It also helped me close my exercise ring in a more enjoyable way.
The Scale Surprise
Here’s the part that made my Streaktember Day 13 unforgettable: I stepped on the scale.
- I started my weight loss journey at 210 lbs in January last year.
- By December, I had dropped to 180 lbs.
- Earlier this year, I reached 170 lbs but hit a frustrating plateau.
My goal has always been 150 lbs, but for months, the scale wouldn’t move. To protect my mindset, I stopped weighing myself.
When I began Streaktember, I weighed in at 170 lbs with a plan to recheck on Day 15. But today, the scale was calling my name, so I gave in. And the number? 163 lbs!
I can’t remember the last time I was in the 160s. Just 13 pounds left until I reach my goal weight. That’s the motivation I didn’t even know I needed.

Takeaway
Today showed me that consistency truly pays off. I’m learning that the daily grind isn’t just about fitness, it’s about building momentum, gaining confidence, and surprising yourself along the way.
