Streaktember Challenge – Day 21: Showing Up When Life Feels Heavy

Streaktember Day 21 has been one of the hardest days of this journey so far. These past couple of months have been overwhelming; juggling motherhood, a full-time job, building a business, and creating content in hopes of monetization. Last night, it all caught up with me, and I broke down. I woke up this morning in a sour mood, and the last thing I wanted to do was get on the treadmill. But I reminded myself why I started this challenge: consistency. Even on the hardest days, especially on the hardest days, I have to show up.

Balancing Life and Fitness Goals

There’s something about being pulled in a hundred different directions that makes it tempting to let fitness be the first thing to drop off the list. Between being a mom, working full-time, and trying to grow my social media content into something sustainable, my plate feels overflowing. Last night I hit my breaking point, the tears came, and I realized just how much pressure I’ve been under.

This morning, the weight of that overwhelm was still heavy. It wasn’t the treadmill I was fighting; it was my own mind. But part of the beauty of Streaktember is learning that showing up is more important than perfection.

Struggling Through the Run

For the first time since I started the challenge, I stopped the treadmill twice just to gather myself. My only goal was to hit 1 mile, and honestly, it felt like the longest mile of my life. Every step seemed heavier, every second dragged on. But slowly, step by step, I got there.

It wasn’t fast, it wasn’t pretty, but I reached 1 mile. And that’s what matters.

The Emotional Side of Consistency

Physical endurance is one thing, but emotional endurance is something else entirely. On days like this, I find myself wishing my mom lived closer. You grow up looking forward to independence, adulthood, and creating your own path. But then reality hits, and you realize that even as an adult, sometimes you just want your mom.

This moment reminded me that running challenges aren’t just about fitness; they’re about resilience, discipline, and emotional strength. Pushing through when you feel like breaking is a kind of training in itself.

Why Streaktember Matters More Than Miles

At this point, Streaktember isn’t just about how many miles I run or how many calories I burn; it’s about proving to myself that I can keep going. Life will always have overwhelming seasons. Business goals, parenting, content creation, and full-time work don’t pause. But what I can do is carve out 15 minutes for myself, even if those 15 minutes feel impossible.

Today proved that progress isn’t always measured in speed or distance. Sometimes progress is just refusing to give up, even when the world feels heavy.

Looking Ahead

With 9 more days to go, I know there will be ups and downs. Today wasn’t easy, but I did it. That’s another day in the books, another reminder that even when I feel like quitting, I’m capable of pushing through.

If you’re reading this and you’re in the middle of your own overwhelming season, I hope this encourages you. Don’t wait for perfect circumstances. Show up for yourself, even if all you can manage is the smallest effort. One day, you’ll look back and realize those “small efforts” were actually the biggest wins. Streaktember Day 21 done!!
