Streaktember Challenge – Day 9: The Difference One Week Makes

I can’t believe the difference one week of streaktember made! What started as a struggle has become something I actually look forward to every day. Today was my fastest run yet. I finished my mile in 11:18, and I wasn’t even that tired. My watch also recorded the effort as moderate, which is such a big change from the “hard” ratings I was getting just a few days ago.

Honestly, I really want to be able to keep this up even after Streaktember ends. Daily running has been doing more for me than just helping my endurance. One unexpected benefit? Let’s just say my digestion has never been better. I used to go number two only once or twice a week, which left me bloated and with a little tummy bulge. But ever since I started running every day, my body has been so regular. The bloat has gone down, and I feel lighter and more comfortable in my own skin. If you don’t have medical issues and you struggle with being backed up, maybe try running; it just might help you like it helped me.

Other than that, today’s run was pretty uneventful. I didn’t have to drag myself out of bed, and thankfully, no slip-ups like yesterday 😂. I’m curious to see if I can get under 10 minutes before this challenge is over.

Tips for Fellow Runners

  • Celebrate small wins. Shaving even seconds off your pace is worth recognizing.
  • Notice the non-scale benefits. Energy, digestion, and mental clarity are big wins too.
  • Stay consistent. The first week is the hardest; once your body adjusts, it gets easier.
